  • Maria, 62 from Berwick, ME
    62, Berwick, ME
I am thankful for all the experiences in my life that are shaping me into the gentle, kind and loving woman that God created me to be. Although my life is active and busy, I try to balance 'doing' with 'being'. I am my 'best self' when I 'in the moment', aware of and thankful for God's simple pleasures, gifts and presence. I love to watch the ocean waves, the sunlight playing through the prisms, wind dancing through the trees, the birds having breakfast at my feeder. I love to listen to the rain making music on my roof, the morning symphony of birds or music that moves me. I delight in heart-shaped shells/rocks found on a beach walk, in the gifts of friendship, in giggles, boogie boarding and in life's many joys and surprises. When my spirit needs nourishment, I am fed by beauty; I buy/grow beautiful flowers/plants, meander in a museum of art, take a walk, sit and watch nature, get/give hugs, or visit and play with kids. I enjoy singing at Mass and for years 'sang my little heart out' in a local gospel choir group. Weekends/vacations will find me puttering around the house and yard, taking walks by the ocean (year round), refinishing treasures from flea market travels, volunteering, enjoying simple pleasures of nature, visiting with friends, dancing, going to concerts, plays, or restaurants. 'Not too serious' hiking and biking is my preference for outdoor activities but I am training and stepping up to more challenging outings- at my own pace. I am comfortable hanging out in jeans but do enjoy getting dressed up. Initially I can be on the quiet side, until I get to know someone; I can also be outgoing and friendly. I prefer being with friends 1:1 or in small groups but I can relate well at larger social gatherings. As a friend, I am compassionate and a good listener. I appreciate the give and take sharing of the ordinary moments of everyday life as well as sharing intimately feelings, thoughts, hopes & dreams

I work for balance in my life: quiet times with a book or watching a sunset from the porch, hiking in the mountains or mowing the lawn; rich conversation with a friend; working on projects with family and friends or celebrating one another; reflective times for personal and spiritual growth. I enjoy music, art, and my beautiful surroundings as well as exploring new places and meeting new people. I look forward to sharing these times with a special companion and learning from his perspectives as well.

  • Mary, 73 from Portland, ME
    73, Portland, ME
First and foremost, I want to meet a catholic man whose faith is apart of who he is just as my faith is apart of who I am. This is important. I am not looking for a religious zealot. I am outgoing and like getting together with friends for lunch or dinner and socializing. I also like to take spontaneous rides to scenic areas. Plays and concerts are an interest as well. Occasionally, I like down time to do whatever strikes my fancy. Walking is my favorite form of exercise. My area is hilly and I like to walk the hills. The most influential people in my life were my parents and the Sisters who taught me from grade school through high school.

I am passionate about helping children, creating beauty, and serving God. St. John Paul ll and St. Mother Teresa have influenced me the most because they lived during my life and I view them as spiritual parents. When I have time, I love to be out in nature, to walk, garden, and cook.

I am intuitive and an idealist! I have many interests because I like to learn but I am most passionate about God, family, friends and living out my Faith in the world. I am not afraid to get involved in tough causes. I love to laugh, be out in Nature and to write and play music. I like to be active but I also appreciate times of solitude now and then.

  • Ellen, 66 from Sanford, ME
    66, Sanford, ME
Ready to start a new phase in my life ... I enjoy family, home as well as travel, quiet times as well as fun loving activities, strong faith and commitment to what I believe in .... I have worked full time in the health care field for the past 35+ years, and am looking forward to retiring and pursuing my 'bucket list' in the very near future .... Some of my hobbies include reading, sewing, stained glass work, and travel. I regularly donate home made crafts to the local holiday fairs at the facilities I have worked at. One of my long time post-retirement wishes is to volunteer at a Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit, rocking sick babies who are there for extended stays, with parents who can't always be there. I witnessed this need first hand after the birth of my grandson several years ago ..

  • Karen, 68 from Swans Island, ME
    68, Swans Island, ME
I am a serious person who has a lot of compassion for others. I live on an island off the coast of Maine and have been here for three years. A long story. My faith is my most important possession. My life has been challenging I suppose but I learned at a young age to survive. Although I have always had my faith it has been in recent years that it has become so important. Leisure time is writing, reading, a bit of gardening. I am working six days a week right now as an administrative assistant and billing manager. I am retired civil service with 26 years in contracts administration for Department of Defense as well as six years in the military as a journalist and photographer. The people that have most influenced my life are people that deeply care and love others. I am still praying for God's will each day and what His plan is for me. I continue to grow. I find this new way of meeting people a bit challenging, but thought it might be interesting.
