33, Omaha, NEI would consider myself very personable and laughing is an essential part of my everyday life. I like to have a good time, no matter what I'm doing because life is too short! It's not uncommon for me to give cards or gifts to my friends just to let them know that I'm thinking of them. I'm the oldest child of 2 and I'm incredibly close to my family. I am also a huge fan of the performing arts and a total dog lover. My faith is the cornerstone to who I am. I've grown up with a very strong Catholic background, which included Catholic school from k-12, but I think there's always room to improve in your faith. I'm really into football (especially the Huskers!) and I love to fish. The most important things to me aside from my faith are my family, friends, trust, love, and humor. I'm incredibly passionate about education and kids, which is evident in my volunteer life. I'm an advisor for a sorority, I serve on my parish council, volunteer teach an intro level college class and I teach kindergarten religious education classes! It's funny how college kids and kindergartners really aren't all that different..... ;-)
32, Omaha, NEI'm an old soul living in a post-modern world. As a young devout Catholic woman, it's incredibly easy for my singleness to be misunderstood. Many within the Catholic community wonder if I've considered consecrated or religious life due to my religious devotion (of course--and it's not my calling). And many outside of the Catholic community wonder if I'm a lesbian due to my perpetual singleness (I'm not). Despite these challenges, I feel incredibly privileged to witness my faith. After all, as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "To be great is to be misunderstood." If being great means achieving holiness, then I'll take it. :) In terms of my interests, I suppose I'm kind of a complex, paradoxical Renaissance woman; my tastes are both wide and varied, and sometimes seemingly contradictory. I'm both nerdy and classy, a hopeless romantic and a level-headed realist. I love science fiction, classic literature, doo-wop, musicals, 50s and 60s sitcoms... I can re-stain and varnish old furniture as well as change the oil in my car...plus cook amazing meals and read Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales" in Middle English while drinking mead. I enjoy listening to merseybeat and power pop on vinyl and often wear Chuck Taylors with knee-length dresses. I also love watching BBC period piece miniseries...as well as "thoughtless" or violent action/adventure thrillers or horror movies. Speaking of movies...I love them and most definitely take advantage of my Netflix account. God delights me by revealing the sacred in the secular, so I often view media through the eyes of the Sacramental Imagination. After all, Jesus spoke to his disciples in parables. My parables just happen to be in the form of modern pop-culture. Above all, I'm incredibly hard-working and down to earth. Few things annoy me more than inauthentic people. If your tastes and interests are widely different from mine, no need to worry. I enjoy learning new things. Just be real and honest with me, and I'll return the favor in kind. In terms of my spiritual life, my goal is to eventually attend daily Mass and pray a daily Rosary, though I'm definitely not there yet. But, I'm striving for holiness and Sainthood. I have discerned my vocation, and I know the Lord is calling me to married life. I absolutely want to have a family. I joyfully anticipate the day when my vocation may be fulfilled. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my single-hood as I listen to the Lord's gentle promptings.
