It All Came Together

You may recall that Dave-69581 submitted our engagement story this past summer. I am SO happy to report that on Dec. 29, 2007, in Denton, TX, we tied the knot and are now officially married!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, complete with traditional Filipino customs (such as sponsor couples and the cord and veil), as well as the regal procession of the Knights of Columbus honor guard. There were so many details that made it unbelievably special, such as having incense, sanctus bells, carrying a blessed rosary, and reading the traditional vows to each other, rather than repeating them after Father. My mom actually made all the flower arrangements herself, with the exception that I got to make my groom's. She also made beautiful pew bows that lined the aisles.

It almost felt like a miracle that it all came together. In November, my then-fiance and I moved to Kansas, though we still wanted to have our ceremony in Texas. Certain things fell through (especially with the flowers) but it ended up all coming together beautifully in the end. One of the biggest blessings is that almost everyone in the wedding party (including us!) was sick the week before the ceremony, but on the actual day, everyone was feeling better and had a terrific time.

In fact, after the wedding, our photopgraher mentioned to us that she had never been to such a fun reception. After a last minute budget check, we realized we could have an open bar. But even without the drinks, everyone was out on the dance floor the first chance they got. (I'll admit it's a little difficult doing the Cha Cha Stomp with a train on my dress.)

The guests weren't the only ones that had fun at the reception, though. Our garter toss came with a surprise; when Dave went to get the garter, he ended up removing an entire leg that we arranaged to look like my own. When it came time to toss the garter, the leg went with it. The lucky single guy that grabbed it carried it around with him all night, and it quickly became the center of many jokes throughout the night.

But really what made the entire thing so wonderful was just being able to enter the amazing sacrament of marriage with my soulmate. Having our friends and family as witnesses was such an added blessing. God has been so good to us so far, and we are excited to see what He has in store for us to come.
