Having previously been married, both Alex and Colleen knew that their Catholic faith was an important factor as they returned to the world of dating.

Following her late husband’s passing in 2021, Colleen began to consider dating again at the encouragement of her grief counselor.
She was hesitant to sign up for a dating app, but felt drawn to CatholicMatch after seeing an advertisement in her parish bulletin. Because it was important to her that she meet someone who shared her faith, CatholicMatch was the only online dating site that Colleen trusted. Alex also encountered CatholicMatch through his parish bulletin and decided to give the app a try after his daughter partially created a profile for him, fully signing up after some later thought.
A member of CatholicMatch for less than 24 hours, Colleen made the first contact by liking Alex’s profile picture.
She found herself attracted not only to Alex’s photo, but also to his love of the outdoors. Similarly, Alex was initially drawn to the natural and unposed nature of Colleen’s profile picture. After exchanging a few messages, the two discovered that their conversation flowed just as naturally.

One week after meeting on CatholicMatch, Alex and Colleen had their first date.
The date took place at a restaurant in Colleen’s hometown on a snowy Friday evening. Even though she had not been on a date in 34 years, Colleen found that the time she spent with Alex was comfortable, noting that the date “felt like we had known each other for a longer time than we did.” The conversation flowed so naturally that the two spent two hours just talking in the car after they left the restaurant.
Following the date, both Colleen and Alex knew that there was still so much more that they wanted to learn about each other and promptly made plans for a second date.
One of Alex’s pastimes is writing and playing music. The couple share a love of country music specifically, so Alex decided to propose with a country song that he had written for Colleen. The day of the proposal. Alex and Colleen spent the afternoon with Alex’s daughter, taking pictures before her homecoming dance. The two then went out to dinner and ended the evening around the firepit. Accompanied by the glow of the fire, Alex announced that he wanted to play a song that he had written for Colleen. Each verse followed the couple’s story, and Colleen decided it was her new favorite song.
Once he was finished singing, Alex got down on one knee and proposed!

The wedding took place on January 17, 2026 at St. Dennis Catholic Church in Havertown, PA.
One of the most special parts of the day for Alex and Colleen was having all five of their children share in their day with them. Colleen’s two sons walked her down the aisle and her daughter sang the Ave Maria during the wedding Mass.
The planning process for Alex and Colleen’s wedding took on a unique form after the couple was selected to be a part of Hallmark’s series “Mom’s the Bride.” The series focuses on the relationships between mothers and their adult daughters as the daughters plan their mother’s dream weddings to their “later in life loves.”

Colleen shared that the experience with her daughter, Olivia made the wedding even more meaningful.
Each of the weddings featured in the Hallmark series are planned around a variety of different themes. Naturally, Colleen and Alex’s wedding had a country theme, and Alex’s country song that he had written for the night of the proposal was the newlyweds’ first dance.
“There is an Answer to Everyone’s Prayer”
Even though she describes Alex as an answered prayer, Colleen had to undergo a long journey of healing in order to open her heart to love again. After the loss of her late husband, Colleen didn’t think that love was possible for her again. Similarly, it took Alex some time to let his own guard down and realize that Colleen was someone that he could spend the rest of his life with.

Because both Alex and Colleen have adult children from their previous marriages, they also had to find a way to blend their two families together. They happily reported that all of their children get along, and Alex’s daughters especially have become quite fond of having Colleen in their lives. Alex joked that when everyone is together he has to “remind my daughters that I am part of the family.”
Since being married, Alex and Colleen have been happily adjusting to their new daily routines with one another. Colleen, in particular, looks forward to waking up next to and coming home to Alex each day. The couple looks forward to a lifetime of sharing everyday moments together.
