Mike and I (Pam) met on Catholic Match a little over two years ago. We both had a rough time before we met--I had been through a tough divorce and Mike had spent several years looking for the right person.
I learned a lot from my first marriage--I knew for a relationship to succeed that we would have to have common interests and goals. By reviewing profiles online, I was able to identify someone who shared many of these things. When I saw Mike's profile, I appreciated that we enjoyed many of the same things- music, being outdoors, gardening, and reading. I admired Mike because he also worked with youth.
We e-mailed for a week or so, then talked on the phone. I think I knew after that first conversation that I wanted to spend more time with him. We went out a couple of weeks later. We have been together since!
Our relationship has made it through some rocky times- but Mike is good at communication. The adjustments we had to make weren't always easy, but they were so worth it. Mike is really my best friend. My 21-year old son died six months ago, and I don't know how I would have made it through this time without him. We share so much-- most importantly, our faith.
The irony of our whole relationship is that Mike and I worked about 10 miles apart, but I don't think we would have ever met if we weren't on Catholic Match. We both worked and then went home. At the time, I traveled 60 miles one way to my job. I didn't know where to meet someone like Mike- thanks to CM for helping us!
