Edward and Rhoda Larson just returned from a 10-day trip to Europe, which is pretty cool for a newly-wed couple who are 82 and 75, respectively. These two faithful Catholics are young at heart – and happy to be in each other’s company.
“The lonesomeness of living alone was just not my cup of tea,” Ed says.
He met Rho on CatholicMatch last fall. Each brought a deep faith and a lifetime of love and loss. Ed, a retired restaurant owner, had been widowed twice. Rho, a retired teacher, had been widowed once. Between the two of them, they have 15 kids and 41 grandkids.
“The blending has gone very smoothly,” Ed says. “Both families seem to approve.” Every single one of their kids and their spouses were at Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church in Exton, Pa., July 17 to witness Ed and Rho’s wedding.
The two had been living just 10 miles apart but attending different parishes and socializing in different circles. Ed had initially tried to meet someone at his church, which didn’t pan out, and was then frustrated by memberships with eHarmony and AveMaria before joining CatholicMatch. Their first date was at a diner, where they talked for hours over coffee and eggs. They’re continuing the conversation today – be it in Poland or in their kitchen, where Rho’s culinary skills sizzle, according to Ed.
“It’s working out great.”
