Kathryn and I, both 42, started to correspond on StRaphael.net in November 2002. After several long telephone conversations, we arranged to meet in Boston on December 1st where we visited the Museum of Fine Art. We laughed over the insights we shared about the artwork we saw, had lunch at the Museum's cafe and then went to Mass together and continued to paint a happy picture together and were formally engaged on June 19. I am a big Boston Red Sox fan, and on that day, I brought Kathryn to see the "monster" bleachers at the Fenway Park and then drove us to another favorite spot, the St. Clement's Eucharistic Shrine. Inside, I set two long stemmed red roses in a vase at the beautiful statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary and gave Kathryn a third. I proposed with the words, "I have been looking for you my whole life."
On October 25, 2003, one day after St. Raphael's feast day, we were married in the seaside setting of Scituate, MA at St. Mary of the Nativity. The music for the ceremony included trumpet and organ selections and roses were presented to the statue of Our Lady. We had a New England honeymoon in Lower Waterford, Vermont and Southwest Harbor Maine (a trip to Italy is planned in 2004). Kathryn and I make our home in Boston. St. Raphael, our sure guide, pray for us!
