"Holly is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life."
I never believed for even a moment that real people, real Christians
could ever possibly meet someone special on a singles site like
Catholic Match. I joined in July 2003, mainly out of boredom one
evening. With several long-term relationships behind me, I had pretty
much given up on any future relationships.
That was then ... this is now.
Not
long after joining, I found myself browsing the site, looking around
for someone from my state of Ohio. That day, I found Holly's profile
and read it. A lot of things stood out about her moral and religious
views. Without thinking that anything would happen between us, I wrote
to her to share with her how I thought a young Catholic woman of 20 was
very bold in her commentary. Little did I know that the reply I would
get would be the start of something wonderful.
We talked
online, via email and long-distance phone calls until nearly two months
later, when I finally decided we should meet face-to-face. We hit it
off very well right from the start, though it took over a month to
figure out that we should probably try dating. Seems all of my friends
and our families figured it out before we did.
Just before
Valentine's Day, we celebrated four months of being together. Holly is
one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. The law
of averages says it should not have worked at all.
We are
eight years apart in age. The Lord located our residences 79 miles of
interstate travel apart. It wasn't love at first sight. It took several
months of friendship before we both came to understand that the Lord
had brought us together, not just as friends, but as a meaningful
relationship.
Most of my friends, along with my family, have
decided that Holly and I have met our lifelong partners. Only time and
the Lord will tell if this is how it will all happen. In the meantime,
I am loving every minute of our relationship.
I am here to tell you ... you never know what the Lord can do in your life until you fully let Him have control.
