"Let's be friends." They're words that are often dreaded in the dating world, and indeed, they are sometimes used as a way to cushion a blow. But sometimes those same words lead to something much more. That's what happened with Joe and Jessica.
Jessica was discouraged—at least when it came to her prospects for finding a match on any online dating site, and that discouragement did not exclude CatholicMatch. She was ready to cancel her membership in January 2012. Then Joe arrived.
Jessica was at the point of canceling her membership when Joe washed up on her shores.
Joe lived just ten minutes away in the northern part of Illinois, and he reached out to her. A week of messaging went on, and then Joe asked her to join him for dinner and a movie. "He was such a gentleman and gave my compliments," the 38-year-old Jessica recalled. "I felt beautiful!"
The couple wasn't sure where the relationship was going and they considered themselves "just friends." What Jessica was convinced of was that 34-year-old Joe was a man God had placed in her life and she was prepared to follow the path and see where it led.
After spending time together as friends, Joe & Jessica found themselves falling in love.
